The Scraps

Here's where you'll find things that I decided weren't right for Sun and Snow, such as parts of Lost Dreams, which is Windchaser, Dreamcatcher... if Dreamstar had died in Invasion.  Hope you enjoy!

Excerpt of Chapter One of 'Lost Dreams'.

This was so hard for me to write.  Maybe that's why I decided that Dreamstar had to live.

Windstar stood shakily.  Robinpelt lay near the edge of the cliff, eyes staring into space blankly.  He was definitely dead-and Windstar had killed him.  But where was Dreamcloud?

Oh.  That's right.

She was dead.

Too late, Swift and Blizzard skidded to a halt at his side.  "Windstar?" Swift panted.  "Oh, I see you took care of it yourse-where's Dreamcloud?"

"Dreamcloud..." Windstar turned his back on her and began to make his way out of the ledge.  "Dreamcloud is dead."

A tiny voice mewled, "Mother...?  Mother's dead?"

Whirling around, Windstar rushed to the little cat's side.  "Scarletkit!" He cried in relief.  "You're alive!"

"Where's Mother?" The little kit asked, green eyes huge.  "She isn't... she can't be...?"

"Dead?" Rockkit whispered.

Windstar was silent for a moment before answering.  "I'm so sorry."

Three little kits were curled at the medicine cat's paws as Firestar quietly spoke to Brambleclaw.  Both had extreme grief written on their faces.  Squirrelflight was grieving, wailing her pain out, her own mother gently soothing her, despite feeling the same pain.

Windstar was crouched in the bushes in an area where his scent couldn't waft over to them, watching.  He had disappeared soon after the kits were returned-or so they thought.  He had to make sure his kits would be all right.

Of course they aren't all right!  His mind chided him.  Their mother just died.

He was more than aware of that...

"When will Mother come back?" Birdkit asked Calicofur tentatively.

The medicine cat gazed down at them, then at Spiderleg, who was nearby.  "Kits... I'm afraid your mother isn't coming back at all."

That's it for now!  more soon!
